Pep commented on David Moyes
In the first leg on March 10, Sevilla defeated West Ham with a minimum score of 1-0. Therefore, David Moyes’ army must have a distance of one goal to prolong the match.
That goal of West Ham was completed in the 39th minute with a goal from Tomas Soucek. After 90 minutes of official play, the two sides did not have any more goals and the match was forced to play overtime.
Here, striker Andriy Yarmolenko became a hero with a close-range shot in the 112th minute and helped the home team continue.
Witnessing the late goal, Joe Cole could not contain his emotions. He wrote: “If Hollywood screenwriters had this script, they would be laughed at. Yarmolenko, through what he went through to score the winning goal, it was more than Hollywood. So amazing. I’ve never seen a stadium shake like this in all my life, I promise you. I’m speechless.”
Meanwhile, former player Carlton Cole shared: ” I’m still speechless, I almost cried. I didn’t even cry when my son was born. I cried, to be honest. Too impressive. I can’t believe it. Yarmolenko, what a player, great story.”
With the victory over Sevilla, this is the first time in the history of West Ham to participate in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
