Calum Chambers launches Aston Villa
Arsenal recruited Calum Chambers for £ 16 million in the summer of 2014. After 7 and a half years of association, the centre-back and right-back had just parted ways with the Gunners. On the homepage, Arsenal confirmed the sale of Calum Chambers to Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee.
Similar to Arsenal, Aston Villa also announced this deal. According to the Villa Park team, Calum Chambers signed a three-and-a-half year contract.
Calum Chambers was sold because it was not part of Coach Arteta’s plans for this campaign. Since the beginning of the season, the former Southampton player has only played 5 matches in all competitions, including 2 appearances in the Premier League.
As for Calum Chambers, the 27-year-old wants to leave Arsenal to have more playing time. Excited after joining Aston Villa, Calum Chambers said: “Aston Villa are a great team and they are in a great moment at the moment.
This is a great place to be and all see things on the right track. For me, joining a team like this is indisputable. This is my right choice.”
Calum Chambers is the fourth player to join the Villa Park team in this winter transfer window. Since appointing Steven Gerrard as coach, Aston Villa has been very active in recruiting new players. Before that, they bought Digne from Everton, borrowed Coutinho and Olsen from Barcelona and AS Roma.
As for Arsenal, Calum Chambers is the fifth player to leave the team this winter transfer window. The England defender was the first player to be sold by the Gunners. Before that, they had liquidated the contract with Kolasinac and let 3 players Balogun, Maitland-Niles and Pablo Marí go on loan.
